According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are set to part ways with one of their long-serving academy midfielders.
As such, the outlet mentions that Adrian Gill is expected to leave the club in a permanent transfer to Atlanta United, bringing an end to a six-and-a-half-year journey at La Masia.
It is said that at this moment, only minor details remain before the deal is finalised, but the operation is already considered closed in principle.
Gill will continue his career in the United States, where Gerardo Martino, a familiar figure for Barcelona fans, is once again in charge.
The presence of Martino, who previously coached Barça’s first team, has been a key factor in facilitating the move.
Gill’s departure marks the end of a chapter that once promised much.
A Youth League champion in 2025, the midfielder was regarded as a reliable and intelligent presence in Barcelona’s youth ranks. However, his development was heavily disrupted by injuries.
Last season proved especially cruel, as a serious knee injury sidelined him for a long period and effectively ruled him out of competitive action during the current campaign.
Despite those setbacks, Barcelona showed faith by renewing his contract until 2026. The decision was largely strategic, aimed at protecting the player’s value while giving him time to recover fully.
To help him regain match sharpness, the club arranged a loan move to Cornella in November.
It was a familiar environment for Gill, who had already represented them before joining Barcelona’s academy in 2018.
Competing in the Third Division RFEF, Gill gradually rediscovered his rhythm and confidence. That spell proved decisive.
His performances, combined with his background and profile, convinced Atlanta United that he was worth investing in.
Ultimately, the 20-year-old will return to his country of birth and take the next step in his career in Major League Soccer.
