While Barcelona never usually welcome a defeat to Real Madrid, their loss to Los Blancos during the first half of the season can be deemed as a blessing in disguise at this point.
That is because the Blaugrana have been in a sublime run of form ever since the defeat to Xabi Alonso’s men in October.
As we approach the final two months of the season, Barcelona are leading the table comfortably with a four-point lead over Real Madrid and just seven matches remaining.
A recent report from AS just highlighted how impressive Barcelona have been since their defeat to Real Madrid in October.
Since the defeat, the team has strung together 17 victories and suffered only two narrow defeats, accumulating a remarkable 51 out of a possible 57 points.
This relentless pace has seen them dismantle opponents like Athletic Club, Villarreal, and Sevilla, allowing them to pull away from the chasing pack.

The only setbacks in this historic run occurred in San Sebastian and Girona. In the match against Real Sociedad, Barcelona were incredibly unlucky, hitting the woodwork five times and having two goals disallowed.
The second defeat in Girona was equally frustrating, occurring amidst controversy over an unpunished foul in the build-up to the decisive goal.
However, these outliers have not overshadowed a streak that has seen the team return to the Spotify Camp Nou and maintain a perfect record of fifteen wins in fifteen games across all competitions.
In the same period, Real Madrid have struggled to maintain the pressure. While Arbeloa’s men have held their own, they have dropped a total of 15 points since the first Clasico, suffering defeats against Osasuna and Getafe.
This nine-point discrepancy between the two rivals over the last few months has given Flick the breathing room he needs.
With the mathematical possibility of reaching the 100-point mark still on the table, Barcelona are now firmly the favourite to retain their La Liga crown.
