Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Sunday spoken out on his pursuit of top-scorer honours in La Liga coming up short.
Frontman Lewandowski, for his part, is fresh off his latest goalscoring outing this evening.
After Barcelona made the trip to the Basque Country for a La Liga meeting with Athletic Club, the Pole notched both of his side’s goals en route to a 2-0 triumph.
This, however, did not prove enough to get the Pole even within touching distance of Pichichi winner Kylian Mbappé.
After finding the net to the tune of a brace of his own against Real Sociedad on Saturday, Real Madrid’s star summer addition took his tally for the campaign in Spain’s top-flight to 31 goals.
Lewandowski, on the other hand, finished the campaign with 27 to his name.
After the latter led the race for the Pichichi throughout much of the term, he was in turn drawn on the situation post-match at San Mamés tonight.
And Lewandowski went on to admit:
“I feel a little sad that I couldn’t win the Pichichi award. I struggled a bit to return to my best shape after my injury, but that’s normal.”
