The Premier League and EFL campaigns are over, and transfer talk across the Midlands is gathering pace.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Walsall’s Connor Barrett has reportedly agreed to join Wigan Athletic. The 24-year-old has one year left on the three-year deal signed in 2024 after arriving from AFC Fylde, and the move would follow two seasons at Bescot.

Wolves are braced for significant change in goalkeeping. Nasser Djiga, a £10m signing in January 2025 who played six times before joining Rangers on loan, is not expected to move to Ibrox permanently.

Wolves have been linked with Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. The promotion-winning keeper spent the second half of last season at Millwall after helping the Black Cats up the previous campaign, and is set to leave for £8m this summer.

At Albion, goalkeeper Max O’Leary has signed a new three-year contract. Southampton midfielder Will Smallbone has come onto supporters’ radar as he prepares to depart the club.

Marcus Rashford’s future remains uncertain after a season on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United, which followed six months with Villa. He enjoyed a superb campaign and Villa are still reportedly interested. Separately, Evann Guessand’s future is also unclear as the big-money 2025 signing considers his options.
