Bastoni under investigation, but Calafiori and Maldini can be called as witnesses | OneFootball

While Alessandro Bastoni is the only player currently under investigation in the underage prostitution scandal, others like Riccardo Calafiori of Arsenal, Daniel Maldini and Kevin Bonifazi will be interviewed as witnesses.

Inter defender Bastoni was formally told he was under investigation this week as part of a wider probe into alleged underage prostitution.

This is part of the focus on an events company in Milan that organised ‘all-inclusive’ nights out for high-profile individuals, including 64 Serie A and B players.

Bastoni is the only player under formal investigation, because the girl he allegedly spent the night with was aged 17 at the time in June 2020.

Under Italian law, a client of a prostitute above the age of 18 is not committing any crime.

Both Bastoni and the girl in question have denied there was any sexual contact, let alone prostitution.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, other players will be called up as witnesses who can provide valuable information to the investigators.

They include Arsenal’s Italy international Calafiori, current Lazio midfielder Daniel Maldini, and former Bologna defender Kevin Bonifazi.
