Bayer Leverkusen ‘enquire about’ Abel Ferreira after Filipe Luís turns them down

Bayer Leverkusen approached Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira after an unsuccessful move for former Flamengo coach Filipe Luís, UOL reports.

Ferreira received contact in recent days but did not open negotiations and chose to remain at Palmeiras.

Monaco had already been in touch with Filipe Luís and agreed the details of his move. Leverkusen only explored the coach’s situation after that agreement.

Having accepted Monaco’s offer, Filipe Luís did not entertain Leverkusen’s proposal. He will sign a two-season contract with the French club, running until the end of June 2028.

Flamengo are now led by Leonardo Jardim. He is preparing the side to face Coritiba at the Maracanã on Saturday 30 in the 18th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, with kick-off at 16:00 Brasília time.
