Luka Vuskovic has played an outstanding season at Hamburger SV – now everything points to his departure. The Croatian centre-back practically confirmed himself after the home win against Freiburg that his time at HSV is coming to an end. At the same time, staying in Germany apparently remains a realistic scenario

Vuskovic scored again in the 3-2 win against SC Freiburg and showed once again why he is one of the biggest discoveries of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season. After the game, the 19-year-old spoke openly about his future – and left little doubt. „It was a very special game for me,“ explained the Croatian. „It was 99.9 per cent probably my last home game for HSV for the time being.“

HSV cannot keep Vuskovic

Vuskovic thus indirectly confirmed the reports of recent weeks that Hamburger SV have little chance of keeping the central defender beyond the summer

The defender is still under contract with Tottenham Hotspur and is only on loan. His contract with Spurs runs until 2030. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is already around 60 million euros

From a sporting and financial point of view in particular, it seems impossible that he will remain at HSV

Bayern and Dortmund are monitoring the situation

Interestingly, however, it is by no means certain that Vuskovic will actually play for Tottenham next season

As the Croatian portal Index reports, the young centre-back would like to play internationally in the future – ideally even in the Champions League. This is precisely why several top European clubs are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation. In addition to FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern are mentioned in particular

BVB in particular are said to be very interested. Following the end of Niklas Süle’s career and Nico Schlotterbeck’s still unresolved future, Dortmund are apparently looking closely at possible solutions for the defence. According to media reports, Schlotterbeck has an exit clause, which is why BVB want to make early provisions

Bayern already had Vuskovic on their radar

Vuskovic is no longer an unknown name at FC Bayern either. The Munich club were already looking closely at the Croatian in 2023, but decided against a transfer at the time because the transfer fee was considered too high

The situation could now change: Although Bayern currently have several options in the center of defence with Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, Minjae Kim and Hiroki Ito, Kim and Ito are definitely considered to be candidates for sale internally

Should there actually be personnel changes in the summer, Vuskovic could once again become a serious topic at Säbener Straße

According to BILD , Tottenham and the player’s side would like to meet before the 2026 World Cup to discuss the defender’s future

Particularly exciting: Vuskovic is represented by star consultant Pini Zahavi, an Israeli who is known to have excellent contacts with numerous top European clubs – including FC Bayern

This should make it clear that the transfer poker surrounding Luka Vuskovic is now really picking up speed.
