According to the latest media reports, FC Bayern are looking closely at Alejandro Grimaldo, a key player from Leverkusen who is being discussed as a possible successor to Guerreiro at the German record champions.
FC Bayern are sounding out the transfer market – and one name is coming more and more into focus: Alejandro Grimaldo. As the specialist magazinekicker reports, the name of the Spanish left-back is now increasingly being bandied about in the corridors of Säbener Straße. BILD also confirms that the rumours are well known at the German champions and that Grimaldo is being discussed intensively internally.
But one thing is clear: there have been no concrete talks between Bayern, the player or Bayer Leverkusen so far. Nevertheless, speculation is gathering pace – and this is mainly to do with the future of another Bayern professional.

Raphael Guerreiro faces an uncertain future at FCB. The 31-year-old’s contract expires next summer and, as things stand, will not be extended. The record champions are planning ahead for the possible departure of the Portuguese international.
And this is where Grimaldo comes into play. The 30-year-old Spaniard has developed into one of the best left-backs in Europe since joining Leverkusen on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. This season, he has scored an impressive seven goals and provided four assists in just 15 games – figures that make him one of the Werkself’s defining figures.
Grimaldo combines strategic cleverness with variable offensive strength. His precise crosses, understanding of the game and consistency make him the dream candidate of many top clubs – and apparently Bayern too.
However, it would not be an easy transfer.
Leverkusen have no intention of letting Grimaldo go before his contract ends in 2027. Ideally, the Werkself bosses would even like to extend his contract or – if necessary – take him into the final year without any problems.
What’s more, the player himself is keeping a low profile. When asked whether he wanted to extend, he told BILD: „We are now focused on the current season. I’m happy to be here and know that the club trusts me. But it’s important that the focus is on the present.“
In addition, Grimaldo continues to dream of a long-term return to Spain – preferably to Barcelona, Real or Atlético. Leverkusen would be more willing to talk to these clubs. According to BILD, the Werkself would ask for transfer fees in the region of well over ten million euros in these cases.
However, the situation would be completely different if FC Bayern came knocking. Leverkusen have already shown a clear stance towards Munich in the case of previous signings such as Jonathan Tah and Florian Wirtz. A similar scenario could be expected with Grimaldo – with a very high transfer fee and tough negotiations.
