Three national titles, strong progress under Vincent Kompany, and a Champions League final narrowly missed: FC Bayern looks back on a successful season. For President Herbert Hainer, however, this is no reason to rest on his laurels. The 71-year-old has already clearly defined the goals for the upcoming season.
FC Bayern impressively demonstrated last season that the path they have chosen is the right one. The Munich side dominated domestically and won every title at the German level.
Internationally, they were ultimately just one small step away from a major triumph. Their run ended in the Champions League semifinals against Paris Saint-Germain.
For Herbert Hainer, however, that is no reason to lower his own standards. Quite the contrary.
In an interview with BILD, the Bayern president made it clear that the goals at Säbener Straße remain as high as ever. “At FC Bayern, our goal is always to win every title possible,” Hainer emphasized.
In doing so, the president makes it unmistakably clear that the treble is once again the focus for the coming season.
At the same time, everyone in Munich knows that the road back to the top of European soccer won’t be a walk in the park.
The two semifinal matches against Paris Saint-Germain made it clear that while Bayern are once again among the world’s elite, the final pieces are still missing for a Champions League triumph.

“Winning the Champions League is, of course, very, very difficult. We saw once again this season how close it was—we, too, would have deserved to reach the final,” Hainer explained.
That is precisely why the club’s management is currently working intensively on further reinforcements for the squad.
With Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, two top targets are on the verge of a move to Munich.
Both transfers are expected to add quality and flexibility to the squad. Vincent Kompany, in particular, is driving the personnel planning forward together with Max Eberl.
The goal is clear: The team is to become even stronger and take the final step toward the Champions League title.
In addition to the club’s goals, Hainer is currently also eagerly looking forward to the World Cup in North America.
The Bayern president is hoping for a successful showing by the German national team. “First and foremost, I’m a soccer fan and a fan of the German national team. That’s why I hope the German national team plays very well and goes as far as possible—ideally to the final,” he explained.
Of course, Hainer is also following the tournament from FC Bayern’s perspective.
With numerous national team players, the record champions once again make up a large portion of the participants at the World Cup. A successful tournament could not only boost the players’ confidence but also provide positive momentum for the upcoming season.
That’s exactly what they’re counting on at Säbener Straße.
In any case, Herbert Hainer’s message is clear: After three domestic titles, FC Bayern should once again be challenging for the top spot internationally. The dream of another Champions League triumph is alive and well.
