Bayern chief pours cold water on Tottenham return for Harry Kane | OneFootball

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move back to the Premier League in recent weeks.

Kane reportedly has a €65 million release clause that becomes active next summer, and there have been rumours of a return to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Bayern are planning to keep the England international for the long term.

Bayern director of sport Max Eberl said (via Sport Bild): “He’s old enough to make his own decisions, whether it’s a clause or no clause, whatever.

“If he says he wants to make a decision, then he’ll make it, as he showed at Tottenham.

“But our wish is, of course, to be very, very successful with Harry this season and in the future!”

Kane has been in terrific form, scoring 13 goals in seven outings this season, bringing his tally to 98 goals in 103 appearances for the German champions.

The 32-year-old finished 13th in the Ballon d’Or rankings. Considering his outstanding returns over the past year, he should have been higher up the list.

A return to Tottenham might tempt Kane. He was inching closer to Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals and could want to take a stab at closing the distance.

However, paying €65m would not be the wisest decision for Tottenham, no matter how influential Kane can be in the final third.

Dominic Solanke has struggled since joining Tottenham from Bournemouth, and Randal Kolo Muani is yet to get off the mark, but Kane is not the solution.

Spurs are better off spending the money on a younger centre-forward, who can develop into a world-class attacker like Kane.
