Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has reiterated that João Palhinha is not in the club’s plans for the new season, despite the midfielder remaining on their Asian tour.

According to Glorioso 1904, Eberl said Bayern want to move Palhinha on this summer and grouped him with Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza as players available for transfer. He warned staying would make life very difficult, though they can train and stake their claim, adding the club’s overall planning points elsewhere.

Eberl added that talks are under way and expects more movement as August unfolds. He noted the window’s first phase delivered major deals, with clubs now reassessing squads because of European commitments or injuries, so patience will be required.

Palhinha remains on Benfica’s shortlist to reinforce Marco Silva’s midfield, but Bayern’s financial demands are hampering any approach by Rui Costa’s SAD.

Benfica are weighing alternatives and monitoring developments, hoping the German club will relax the terms to negotiate the former Fulham player’s exit.
