Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon is a wanted man this summer, with a few clubs looking to prize him away from St James Park.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Newcastle ace is a target for Bayern Munich. The German side wants competition for Luis Diaz and is seriously considering a move.

While the Bavarians are yet to make contact with the Magpies, Gordon is aware of the interest, and concrete talks have already taken place.

Gordon’s 2025/26 season with Newcastle has been a mixed bag.

His tally of six goals and two assists in 26 Premier League appearances is disappointing, but he stepped up big time in the Champions League.

The 25-year-old has bagged 10 goals and two assists in 12 Champions League outings.

His performances have attracted the interest of the German league champions.

Newcastle will fight to keep the England international (17 caps), but their hands may be tied if he pushes for the exit door like Alexander Isak did last summer.

Gordon has been a terrific player for Newcastle, but may want a club that performs consistently, though it remains to be seen whether a move to Bayern appeals to him.

Newcastle should consider Said El Mala to replace Gordon

If Newcastle need a replacement for Gordon, they should look no further than Koln’s Said El Mala, a player already on their radar.

The 19-year-old is enjoying a brilliant Bundesliga campaign, recording 11 goals and three assists in 29 appearances (15 starts).

While he has missed 13 big chances this term, it also shows his ability to get into quality shooting positions.

The Toons should be doing everything to get their hands on this exciting, mazy dribbler. He has the ideal profile to replace Gordon in Eddie Howe’s ranks.

Koln reportedly wants around €45 million to let him go, and Newcastle should be able to cough up that sum if they get big money for Gordon.
