Alexander Nübel’s departure from FC Bayern appears to be associated with significant costs for the record champions. According to recent reports, the goalkeeper is receiving a severance package worth millions to facilitate his move to Besiktas Istanbul.

According to consistent reports from Sky and BILD , Alexander Nübel is leaving FC Bayern to join Besiktas Istanbul. While the Munich club will receive a transfer fee for the 29-year-old, it appears they will also have to dig deep into their own pockets.

As reported by BILD, Nübel is receiving a severance payment from FC Bayern to facilitate his move to Turkey.

The reason for this is his contract in Munich, which runs until 2029. According to the report, the national team goalkeeper would have continued to earn around six million euros per season at the record-holding champions—not including bonuses. Since his salary at Besiktas is expected to be lower, Bayern is reportedly making up the difference with a compensation payment.

The agreement between the two sides is said to have been reached on Monday evening, finally clearing the way for the transfer.

According to BILD, Besiktas pushed for a quick decision. The Turkish club reportedly made it clear that, otherwise, they would start looking for another goalkeeper.

For FC Bayern, however, it was important to remove Nübel from the payroll before training began on July 20. That’s why the club’s leadership, led by sporting director Max Eberl, is said to have made compromises on both the transfer fee and the contract termination.

Up to twelve million euros in transfer fees

As reported by Sky, Munich will receive a fixed transfer fee of 6.5 million euros for the goalkeeper. With bonus payments, the total package could rise to as much as twelve million euros.

From a sporting perspective, Nübel no longer played a role in the record champions’ plans. Manuel Neuer remains the number one goalkeeper, and Jonas Urbig is set to be gradually brought into the fold.

With his move to Besiktas, Nübel’s chapter at FC Bayern has finally come to an end. Between 2020 and 2026, the former Schalke player made just four competitive appearances for the Munich club before going on several loan spells.
