Another talented player comes to the fore at FC Bayern. Filip Pavic provides a historic moment on his Champions League debut. A look back at the club’s history shows just how extraordinary this outing was.

The youngster made his first appearance in the 4-1 win over Atalanta Bergamo in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League. Filip Pavic came on as a substitute for Josip Stanisic in the 72nd minute, earning his first minutes on Europe’s biggest stage and also his first professional minutes for Munich.

The centre-back made club history with his debut. At 16 years, one month and 27 days, Pavic is the youngest player ever to appear for FC Bayern in the Champions League, overtaking Paul Wanner, who previously held the record and was 16 years, nine months and 19 days old when he made his debut against Viktoria Pilsen in October 2022. Wanner now plays for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Pavić is also the first player born in 2010 to make it into the Bayern professional squad.

The list goes back much further, however, with Jamal Musiala in seventh place (17 years, eight months, eight days), David Alaba directly behind him in eighth place (17 years, eight months, 13 days) and Bastian Schweinsteiger in 13th place (18 years, three months, twelve days).

With his brief appearance against Bergamo, Filip Pavic has taken the top spot in this special statistic and is now the youngest player ever to appear for Munich in the Champions League.
