Bayern Munich have enquired about signing Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck (h/t German journalist Florian Plettenberg).

The Bavarians are planning a defensive revamp due to the uncertain futures of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.

Talks have continued with Upamecano over a renewal, but his demand for a hefty signing bonus of around €20 million is proving a stumbling block for the German giants.

His situation has alerted Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Inter Milan. They are ready to provide him with a lucrative salary and meet his signing bonus demands.

Meanwhile, Kim’s future appears to be away from Allianz Arena, having struggled for regular game time this season.

The South Korean centre-back has made four appearances in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

He has been linked with a return to Serie A, with Juventus and AC Milan emerging as suitors.

Schlotterbeck’s contract situation at Dortmund has caught the eye of top European clubs, including Bayern, Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona.

The German international has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga since joining Dortmund from Freiburg.

The 25-year-old’s outstanding ball-playing abilities and defensive solidity make him one of the most coveted centre-backs in the market.

His contract expires in June 2027, and Dortmund have tabled a renewal offer with an increased salary worth €10 million per season.

Schlotterbeck hasn’t responded to the proposal, but Dortmund are confident that he will accept it.
