Bayern Munich personnel boss Max Eberl has confirmed that contract extension negotiations with Harry Kane have begun. The England national team captain still has 18 months left on his current contract with his Bundesliga outfit. Bayern hope to extend Kane’s deal by another one to two years.
Eberl told Sky Germany that his staff are “holding talks” with Kane.
The England national team captain opted to allow a confirmed €65m release clause that might have allowed him to depart Bayern this January lapse. The existence of further such clauses that may be activated this coming summer or in January 2027 cannot be independently correlated at this time.
One nevertheless assumes that such clauses do exist in Kane’s current working papers and probably will be built into his new contract. Kane’s entourage will ensure that a player of his caliber maintains enough flexibility in choosing his future career moves.
Kane’s celebrity in Germany shall certainly play a role in any potential decision to remain. So too, however, might be the opportunity to return to England and break Alan Shearer’s all-time top flight goal-scoring record.
