Bayern Munich board-member-for-sport Max Eberl was quick to deny rumors linking the German record champions with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. Eberl spoke to reporters both before kickoff and after the full-time whistle in a pre-season friendly against Tottenham at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern achieved a 4-0 victory over Spurs, with young prospects Jonah Kusi-Asare and the highly touted Lennart Karl both scoring goals. Prior to kickoff, Eberl spoke of the importance of giving youngsters from the FCB developmental campus a chance this season.
“We are very, very satisfied thus far,” Eberl – as quoted by transfermarkt.de – “We have signed three players [in Jonathan Tah, Luis Diaz, and Tom Bischof] we really wanted. We are going through a difficult period due to long-term injuries [to Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Ito]. That doesn’t make it easy.
“We will nevertheless not be signing any direct replacements,” Eberl continued. “There will be no emergency solutions between now and September 1st. Hopefully we will have more luck with injuries. Our squad is set. Let’s see how the season goes.“
“I’ve never spoken to him,” Eberl – again quoted by transfermarkt.de – said of Jackson after the game was finished.
