“That’s my dream club. Of course, Bayern is something very special, and it’s a lot of fun at the club,” the youngster added.

Naturally, the comments did not go down all too well within the Bayern Munich camp, with the youngster facing some flak for his open flirtations.

Now, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has come out and tried to smooth out matters following Karl’s comments, stating that the young gem had issued an apology internally.

“Lennart wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s not afraid of anything, even with us on the pitch. That’s how he plays football. It was unfortunate, and he realised that immediately,” said Freund, as quoted by Florian Plettenberg.

“He also apologised for it. We spoke about it. He came to us and said it wasn’t meant that way at all.”

The Bavarians’ transfer chief noted that the youngster had a trial in the past at Real Madrid and how it was his dream back then, but that he is happy and fully committed to Bayern now.

“He feels extremely comfortable at FC Bayern. […] As a child, he once trained with Real Madrid – that was his dream club back then. But he’s very happy at FC Bayern, and we are very happy that he’s with us,” Freund added.

Following his explosive comments, Karl stole the show for Bayern Munich earlier today, scoring two goals in their 5-0 victory over RB Salzburg in a friendly encounter.

Just 17 years old, Karl has already made 22 senior appearances for Bayern Munich, bagging six goals and two assists.
