Though the diagnosis wasn’t exactly a secret, Bayern Munich have released their official statement regarding Jamal Musiala’s horror injury. Musiala’s collision with PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in yesterday’s Club World cup quarterfinal elimination led to the 22-year-old suffering a fractured fibula. Per the Bundesliga club, Musiala’s left ankle was also dislocated.
Musiala’s expected time way from pitch hasn’t changed. The young German phenom remains out of action for a minimum of four months. FCB board-member-for-sport Max Eberl’s official club statement stuck to generalities when it came to the matter. Musiala was flown back to Munich yesterday and will undergo surgery in the Bavarian capital soon.
“This serious injury and the long lay-off are a real shock for Jamal and all of us,” Eberl’s statement read. “Everyone knows how immensely important Jamal is to our game and what a central role he plays in our team. We all feel for him: Jamal had just come back from an injury and will now be out for a long time again. He will get everything he needs from us. We will support him intensively and remain at his side.“
