The 25-year-old’s ability to operate across the frontline appeals to Bayern, who believe a fee between €60m and €70m (£52m and £60m) could be enough to sign Gordon this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Newcastle look set to miss out on Champions League qualification and the club’s absence from Europe’s elite could lead to sales. Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento all have suitors, with Gordon also of interest to leading clubs.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with the England international, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season.

Bayern are keen to bring in another signing from the Premier League, following the success of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz in recent windows.
