Bayern Munich youngster Jonathan Asp Jensen is hoping to join Lazio as soon as possible, but he’s still awaiting a club-to-club agreement.
The 20-year-old is an attacking midfielder who spent time at several Danish clubs before being poached by Bayern in 2022. Last season, he joined Swiss top-flight club Grasshoppers on loan, and produced nine goals and six assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
Despite his exploits in Switzerland, Asp Jensen is unlikely to find any space at the Allianz Arena. Therefore, the Bavarian giants are open to selling him this summer. Lazio immediately jumped ahead of the queue by striking an agreement with the player’s entourage. The Biancocelesti are familiar with the youngster’s agents, as they also represent Gustav Isaksen and Oliver Provstgaard.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the young Dane is in a hurry to sign for Lazio. However, the two clubs are yet to finalize the deal. As the source explains, Asp Jensen is expected to cost the Aquile a transfer fee of €3-4 million. However, the main sticking point is the sell-on fee, with Bayern requesting 50% and Lazio pushing for a lower percentage.
The youngster’s arrival would help Gennaro Gattuso transition from Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 system to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, as the squad currently lacks a natural attacking midfielder. However, other sources have reported that the new Lazio head coach prefers Dinamo Zagreb’s Luka Stojkovic over Asp Jensen, who has instead been picked by the club’s sporting director, Angelo Fabiani.
