Bayern Munich are monitoring Cologne winger Said El Mala ahead of a potential move next summer (h/t journalist Florian Plettenberg).
After impressing on loan in the third division with Viktoria Koln last season, the 19-year-old has caught the attention with his spectacular displays in the Bundesliga this term.
The German prodigy scored against Freiburg and Hoffenheim and provided an assist in the draw against Wolfsburg.
His explosive pace and dribbling prowess make him an exciting prospect, with many people predicting he will be the next big thing in the Bundesliga due to his immense potential.
El Mala’s rise to prominence has drawn the interest of Bayern, who have an excellent track record for snapping up the best home-grown talents.
Borussia Dortmund are also in the running, having enquired about his potential signing before his move to Cologne last year.
Cologne are looking for around €35 million next summer, but his value could increase if he continues to deliver results.
Bayern recruited left-winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool for a hefty €75m in the summer transfer window to replace Kingsley Coman, who joined Al-Nassr.
El Mala can play on both wings and in the attacking midfield position, which makes him a quality addition to the Bavarians.
Bayern may have to dip their toes in the transfer market for attacking reinforcements next summer due to Serge Gnabry’s uncertain future.
The 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Bayern are taking stock of his situation to see whether he can keep up his good run of form. They want to extend his contract on reduced terms.
Bayern have also loaned out Bryan Zaragoza to Celta Vigo for the 2025/26 season. The Spanish winger spent the last season on loan at Osasuna after struggling for game time.
