Bayern Munich are expected to begin formal negotiations over a new contract for Harry Kane at the beginning of August, according to Sport Bild.

The talks will happen once the England captain returns from his summer vacation, with Bayern eager to secure the long-term future of one of the club's most important players.

Kane is currently Bayern's highest-paid player alongside Jamal Musiala, earning around €25 million gross per year. While Bayern's policy has often been to reduce the salaries of players over the age of 30, Sport Bild reports that a pay cut is not expected to be part of the negotiations in Kane's case.

The 33-year-old is said to have received interest from other clubs in recent months. However, the report claims Kane has always viewed Bayern as the ideal club to fulfil his career ambitions and has never seriously considered a move elsewhere.

Instead, the biggest question surrounds the length of his next contract.

Bayern are prepared to offer Kane a deal running until at least 2029. The striker, meanwhile, is reportedly targeting the 2030 FIFA World Cup and wants to continue competing at the highest level until then.

As a result, negotiations are expected to focus on two possible scenarios: a contract running until 2030 with a lower annual salary, or a shorter extension until 2029 that would allow Kane to maintain a higher wage.

The outcome of those discussions could determine how the final years of Kane's career at Bayern are structured, with both parties reportedly keen to continue their successful partnership.
