Bayern with record at halfway mark

It was already confirmed before Christmas that FC Bayern would claim the unofficial title of Hinrundenmeister (champions at halfway point). But in the final two games of the first half of the campaign in the new year, the Munich men have further underlined their superiority in emphatic fashion and now set an incredible record to boot! With 47 points and a goal difference of +53, head coach Vincent Kompany’s men have completed the best first half of a season in the history of the German top flight. The previous record was set by FCB under Pep Guardiola in 2013/14, when they had 47 points and a goal difference of +35 after 17 matchdays.

New goals record

The Bavarians’ attack has particularly stood out in the campaign so far. With a whopping 65 goals scored, Harry Kane and Co have smashed the previous record of 56 goals at this stage, which Bayern themselves set in the 2021/22 season. It’s no wonder since they’ve scored at least twice in all of their 17 league games so far – in fact in their last 25 going back to last term.

It remains to be seen what this phenomenal first half of the season will amount to in the end. However, the fact is: an 11-point lead, which the Reds currently have over closest challengers Borussia Dortmund, has never been surrendered in the history of the Bundesliga. Bring on the second half, which starts this Saturday with the primetime clash at RB Leipzig!
