BBC poke fun at Ross County and Rangers after Johnston’s Celtic goal

Someone at the BBC poked fun at Ross County and theRangers following Alistair Johnston’s third away goal of the season…

The stand-in skipper bulleted home his third league goal of the season in Celtic’s routine 3-0 victory over Motherwell in North Lanarkshire. A comfortable win for Brendan Rodgers’ side sees them retain top spot for another matchday maintaining their unbeaten start to this season’s domestic campaign.

Alex Valle combined with his fellow full-back Alistair Johnston for the Hoops’ second of the game. The Spaniard displayed another impressive performance, and his cross for Johnston was perfectly delivered.

Meanwhile, all three of the Canadian’s league goals have come away from home. Firstly, at St Mirren Park in August, then a crucial equaliser at Ross County, and now an expertly timed headed finish at Fir Park.

“That’s more than some teams in the Premiership have managed,” the BBC chap comically quipped. Surely the BBC has no right to be taking subtle digs at Don Cowie’s Ross County…Oh, and theRangers who with the Staggies sit at the bottom of the goals scored in away matches table this season having both only netted on the road once.

Brendan Rodgers’ side victory means they sit level with Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen at the top of the table on an impressive 25 points from a possible 27. Celtic are top with a superior goal difference, so actually increased their lead at the weekend, outscoring Aberdeen three to one. The Ibrox club remain in third place trailing six points behind the top two, after struggling to a fortunate 2-1 win over St Mirren who were denied a penalty.

Aberdeen’s clash at Pittodrie with theRangers on Wednesday evening will be an intriguing matchup. Either way, it is a win-win for Celtic, who if they do their job professionally on Wednesday night against Dundee in Glasgow’s East End will extend their gap at the top of the table between themselves and the Dons, or widen the points margin with their Glasgow rivals, or in the event of a draw could do both.

While the head says a draw would suit Celtic best the heart clearing hopes that Aberdeen eat into the Celtic goal difference advantage with a thumping victory!
