Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko (22) is close to making his return after a month out with a knee injury and could feature against Bournemouth on Monday, according to reports from Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old has been sidelined since picking up the injury against Tottenham in early November, but he has now returned to full training and is being considered for the squad. A more substantial involvement is expected when United face Aston Villa on 21 December.
Sesko’s comeback offers a timely boost for manager Ruben Amorim, who is set to lose Bryan Mbeumo and Amad later this month as both join their national teams for the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on 21 December. Their absence will stretch United’s attacking options during a busy period.
Sesko, who joined from RB Leipzig for £73m, has shown flashes of promise since arriving in the summer and is viewed as an important part of United’s long-term plans. His physical presence and movement have been missed in recent weeks as the team struggled for consistency in the final third.
While Monday’s match may come slightly early for a full return, Sesko’s recovery is a positive development for a United side looking to steady their season and improve their attacking fluidity heading into the new year.
