Belén Aquino called up by Uruguay, deepening Corinthians absences for US tournament | OneFootball

Belén Aquino has been called up by Uruguay for the April international window, increasing Corinthians' list of absentees for the Teal Rising Cup in the United States.

Meu Timao reports that the forward was selected by coach Ariel Longo for the latest Women's Nations League fixtures, a Conmebol competition that serves as qualifying for the next World Cup.

Uruguay face Peru, Bolivia and Chile on 10, 14 and 18 April respectively. They sit eighth with two points, earned from two draws and one defeat.

Each nation has already played at least three matches, and will complete nine games in a single round-robin. All teams meet once, the top two qualify directly for the World Cup, while third and fourth go to the play-offs.

Aquino's call takes Corinthians to eight internationals this window. Lelê, Thaís Ferreira, Gi Fernandes, Duda Sampaio and Ana Vitória have been called by Arthur Elias for Brazil at the Fifa Series at Arena Pantanal. Dayana Rodríguez will represent Venezuela and Gisela Robledo will play for Colombia, both also in the Nations League.

All those called up will miss the Teal Rising Cup. Corinthians meet Kansas City Current in the semi-final on 9 April at 22:00 Brasília time. The final and third-place match are on 12 April, and if they progress they could face Palmeiras or América of Mexico.

The call-ups also cast doubt on the meeting with Juventude on 20 April at Estádio Homero Soldatelli in the Campeonato Brasileiro. Before that, the players remain available and are expected to feature on Friday, 3 April at 21:00 against Red Bull Bragantino at the Fazendinha.
