Benfica offer Schjelderup contract extension to 2031 | OneFootball

Benfica have moved to secure Andreas Schjelderup long term, tabling a contract extension through to 2031, three years beyond his current 2028 deal.

Record writes that the proposed five-season package is worth about 18 million euros gross, roughly 3.6 million per year, underlining the winger’s growing importance.

Rui Costa’s hierarchy intend to reward last season’s performances and protect one of the squad’s most valuable assets. At 22, the Norway international has become a leading figure.

Benfica have asked his representatives for a response, but the initial deadline passed without a formal decision. The club remain relaxed, with Schjelderup under contract for two more seasons.

Schjelderup is currently with Norway at the World Cup, a platform that could further raise his international value. With that in mind, Benfica have set 40 million euros as a base to open talks.
