Benfica revive interest in Levante winger Carlos Álvarez | OneFootball

Benfica have put Carlos Álvarez back on their shortlist for 2026/27. The 22-year-old Levante winger, with the Valencia-based club, is being monitored, and there are no formal talks.

Last summer Benfica came close to a move, with a bid of 15 to 18 million euros linked. At the time, elgodigital reported Levante would only negotiate for the 25 million euro release clause.

The picture could change in the months ahead. Álvarez is under contract until 2027 and Levante want to extend it while lifting the clause to 35 million euros. If no renewal is agreed, a sale would be considered.

Sporting director Héctor Rodas has recently said the club are prepared to sell if a proposal suits all parties, stressing that no player is above the institution.

Álvarez’s versatility is highly valued. He can play on both flanks, is comfortable on the right, and can also operate as a second striker.

He ended the season with three goals and one assist in 30 games. In 2024/25 he produced seven goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances, figures that continue to attract Benfica.
