Benfica have made a fresh push to keep António Silva, presenting a new deal to 2031 with a significant salary increase, according to Nicolò Schira. The club are awaiting a response from the player’s camp to speed up an agreement.

The Portugal centre-back remains a major issue for the club this summer amid interest from several European sides. He has been linked with AC Milan, coached by Ruben Amorim.

New head coach Marco Silva views renewing António Silva as a priority and sees him as important for next season, despite the arrival of Clément Lenglet to bolster central defence.

Silva is under contract until June 2027 and has a €100 million release clause. Talks are ongoing and no final agreement has been reached.

"Se vou renovar pelo Benfica? Não sei, ainda não sei. Há uma proposta do clube que me foi apresentada na última semana da temporada, antes do jogo com o Estoril", he told JOliveira10.

In 2025/26 he played 41 competitive matches for Benfica, 25 in the Liga Portugal Betclic and 10 in the Champions League. He added four in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça, totalling 3,118 minutes with one goal and one assist.
