Bild reports that Benfica are considering a loan for Bayern midfielder João Palhinha, with an option, and potentially an obligation, to buy.

The Portuguese club are struggling to fund the combined permanent fee and wages for the player. Even if Palhinha accepted a pay cut on his Bayern salary, Benfica would still find the deal difficult.

It is unclear whether Bayern would accept such terms, and the report adds that Palhinha is not in the club’s plans.

Meanwhile, Sky Germany understands the reigning German double winners will not sign another midfielder this summer. Even if the Portuguese international departs, Bayern’s hierarchy believe there is enough depth to cover the No.6 and No.8 roles.

Last season, Palhinha was among Tottenham Hotspur’s standout performers, registering 5 goals and 2 assists in 33 Premier League appearances.
