Benfica ‘to explore’ Raphael Guerreiro move after Bayern exit announced

Record reports that Benfica have reignited interest in Raphael Guerreiro and are exploring a move, with suggestions the sides may be close to an understanding.

The Portugal international, a former European champion, has been linked as a possible addition to José Mourinho’s squad. Bayern Munich have announced he will leave at the end of the season.

Guerreiro is a self-declared Benfica supporter, a detail viewed positively by the hierarchy led by Rui Costa.

Even so, no decision has been taken, and it is not guaranteed Rui Costa will table a proposal to bring the left-back to the Luz.

Should he join, his role could be more advanced despite his natural position at left-back, suggesting Mourinho would leave the defensive flank to Samuel Dahl and José Neto.
