Benfica are working on a move for Lorenzo Lucca, but three obstacles are complicating any deal. The club want another addition for José Mourinho’s squad and the process is proving complex.
According to the Italian press, the first hurdle is the striker’s reluctance to leave Italy. Benfica would need to convince the No 27 that a switch would not represent a step back in his career.
The second concerns rival interest. Alongside Benfica, Juventus, Roma, Milan and Lazio are monitoring the forward, while from England Nottingham Forest are viewed as the most serious candidate.
The third issue is financial. Napoli are said to want around 30 million euros after signing the player from Udinese for a total of 35 million euros, split as nine for the loan and 26 for the obligatory purchase.
This season for Napoli, Lucca is valued at 25 million euros and has made 20 appearances, 14 in Serie A, four in the Champions League, one in the Supercoppa and one in the Coppa Italia. Across 570 minutes he has scored two goals. His contract runs until June 2028.
