Benfica’s winter window ended quietly, the final day passing with only some exits confirmed, largely among academy players.
Record writes that no signings were announced in the last 24 hours, aligning with the stance that the squad was closed as injured players returned to availability for José Mourinho.
This approach contrasted with January 2025, when the team, then under Bruno Lage, unveiled three additions in one day, more than this year’s total. Those arrivals were Bruma, Andrea Belotti and Samuel Dahl.
This time Benfica brought in two players for Mourinho’s squad. Sidny Cabral arrived from Estrela da Amadora and was presented in December 2025, while Rafa Silva returned on 23 January after departing Besiktas.
The club explored signing another midfielder following injuries to Enzo Barrenechea and Richard Ríos. Stije Resink was the leading candidate, but talks with Groningen did not take off. The squad is closed and ready to attack the remainder of the season.
