According to A Bola, Bernardo Silva has informed Manchester City he will not renew his contract and will leave at the end of the season. He has also said a return to Benfica is not in his plans.
The report added that the 31-year-old has told club chiefs of Pep Guardiola’s side of his decision and would prefer to continue in Europe.
Over the coming weeks he will assess offers for the next stage of his career. Rumours have linked him with Barcelona, Juventus and Galatasaray.
He is said to view a move to La Liga positively, with any Barcelona proposal likely to be prioritised, a long-held aspiration for the Benfica academy graduate.
Barcelona’s interest is longstanding and well known. With his deal expiring this summer, a move to Catalonia has gained momentum after the club were previously unable to meet the financial demands involved.
