Bernardo Silva is set to end his long association with Manchester City at the end of this season.
Silva has been integral to City’s recent success under Pep Guardiola.
He has scored 76 goals in 452 senior appearances, helping City win six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
However, the Portuguese is almost guaranteed to leave this summer, with his contract at the Etihad Stadium expiring in June.
According to ESPN, Silva believes he still has a place at a high level and wants to remain with a competitive team on the continent.
The 31-year-old is reportedly in no hurry to make a decision about his future. He plans to wait until the World Cup before deciding on the next step in his career.
Silva doesn’t fancy a move to the Saudi Pro League or an emotional return to his former club Benfica.
He has no shortage of suitors, with Arsenal and Barcelona credited with interest in a transfer.
The Gunners are monitoring the situation, but a transfer is unlikely to happen due to the rivalry between Arsenal and City in the Premier League.
A summer move to Barcelona could be on the cards for the Portugal international.
The Catalan club’s financial troubles are well known, so signing a player of Silva’s quality without any transfer fee would be appealing to them.
