Besiktas president ignores Rafa at briefing as Benfica move still resonates | OneFootball

Besiktas president Serdar Adali presented new signings and thanked the club’s January departures, but pointedly omitted Rafa, who has rejoined Benfica.

According to Glorioso 1904, Adali namechecked Mert Gunok, Gabriel Paulista, Jonas Svensson, David Jurásek, Demir Ege Tiknaz and Tammy Abraham, yet made no reference to Rafa.

The forward’s return to Benfica was confirmed on 22 January after a drawn out and at times tense negotiation, and the switch has continued to reverberate in Istanbul, where it was regarded as a notable moment of the winter window.

The omission has been taken as a sign the subject remains sensitive at Besiktas, even after his move back to Portugal and with the club in Türkiye moving on.

On the pitch, with Benfica this season, Rafa Silva, valued at five million euros, has featured in three matches. He has logged 133 minutes in Liga Portugal Betclic and shown promising signs.
