Tottenham Hotspur bounced back to winning ways after beating Manchester City 4-0 in the Premier League last Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.
It was a monumental win for Spurs, who climbed to sixth in the table, only three points behind Chelsea and Arsenal.
Tottenham were tactically superb, and their position play and movements upfront were a joy to watch.
James Maddison scored twice, while Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson also netted as Spurs earned a comfortable victory. It was Tottenham’s sixth victory in their last 13 games against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Man City have now lost five games in a row under Pep Guardiola in all competitions, and they suddenly find themselves eight points behind Liverpool in the league.
Popular musician Noel Gallagher, who is a lifelong City fan, has slammed Spurs as the “biggest frauds” in football.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Gallagher said: “This is an inevitable drop off of maybe five or ten per cent and on Saturday, the one team we don’t want to play as City fans after four defeats in a row is Tottenham at home.
“They do it to us every time they come there, they’re the biggest frauds in the football league. They’ll get battered by Fulham at the weekend, no problem. But they always turn up for us.”
While there is no doubt that Spurs have improved under Ange Postecoglou, maintaining consistency has been their biggest issue.
They have lost four times in their last nine games in all competitions. Every time it looks like the Spurs would build momentum, they end up losing odd games.
The gap between them and the other two London clubs is small, and there is no reason to believe why Spurs cannot finish in the top four this season.
Tottenham will face AS Roma in the Europa League next at home on Thursday night, followed by a London derby clash in the Premier League against Fulham.
