According to Neil Moxley of GiveMeSport, the 40-year-old’s position is not under immediate threat as the club prepares its January transfer business, having already got it underway with the addition of left-back Kai Wagner from Philadelphia Union.

Recent results have seen Blues fail to win any of their last seven in the Championship, which has seen them fall well behind in the battle for a top six finish.

The Midlands outfit earned promotion from League One in 2025 in emphatic fashion, earning a record 111 points on their way to the title, which led to optimism that they could contend for a place in the Premier League this season.

However, they are currently closer to the Championship relegation zone than the play-off places after 25 games played in 2025-26 - which is not what was expected or wanted.

As per Moxley's report for GiveMeSport, Birmingham have offered Davies their support amid claims that his future is under threat due to recent results.

It’s believed that majority owner and chairman Tom Wagner has given his backing to the manager despite their failure to win any of their last seven games in the league.

The Blues are planning a busy January transfer window in order to salvage their league position, with director of football Craig Gardner understood to be eyeing four new signings.

Birmingham have invested heavily in the first team squad under the American owner, and more spending can be expected before the February 2 deadline.

Kai Wagner has already made the move to St. Andrew’s, but other signings could depend on any outgoings, with a bloated squad currently causing issues.

Chris Davies shouldn’t be sacked just yet - Birmingham City need to give him more time

Davies has done well during his time at Birmingham on the whole, but this current patch of form is the toughest time of his managerial career so far.

But he should have enough credit in the bank to get through a poor run like this, especially as their performances still haven’t been that bad - there has definitely been an element of misfortune when it comes to some of the outcomes of their recent matches.

Birmingham have a lot of ambition, and clearly want to get back to the Premier League as quickly as possible, but in this case, sticking with the manager might be the better long-term decision, even if their results at the moment have cost them quite a lot in terms of their fight for a play-off place.

Seeing what he can do with some new players, should they arrive before the early February transfer deadline, will see what Davies is made of, but if it still doesn't work after that, then maybe it will be time for a change.
