According to Football Insider, the 40-year-old’s position is precarious following the Blues’ 3-0 loss away to Sheffield United.

Goals from Tyler Bindon, Gustavo Hamer and Patrick Bamford gave the Blades all three points at Bramall Lane, closing the gap between the two teams to just three points.

The Midlands outfit have endured a difficult run of form on the road, and this was their eighth loss from 12 games in the league away from St. Andrew’s since gaining promotion.

Davies has been in charge since the summer of 2024, and he oversaw Birmingham’s record-breaking promotion to the second tier in which the side earned 111 points.

Davies’ position at Birmingham is not in immediate danger following the 3-0 loss to Sheffield United.

However, pressure is reportedly mounting on the head coach, with the team’s hopes of gaining promotion taking a dent on Saturday afternoon.

It’s believed that Davies must lead the side to victories in both of their upcoming clashes in order to save his job.

Birmingham face Derby County and Southampton, with the club currently six points adrift of the play-offs as we approach the halfway stage of the campaign.

Blues owner Tom Wagner is aiming for the team to be competing in the Premier League in the near future, with his sights even set on potentially earning back-to-back promotions.

As a result, Birmingham are already drawing up a list of potential replacements for Davies in the event that a change in manager is made during the festive period.

Davies’ side fell to 14th in the Championship table with their latest defeat, which was their third from their last four games.

Timing for a manager change is difficult for Birmingham

Not only are there a lot of games over the next couple of weeks, there is also the matter of the January transfer window coming up.

If Birmingham want to change manager now, then it will give a new coach a lot of work to do in a very short span of time and it could prove quite tricky.

The Blues’ away form is quite concerning, but they remain quite strong at home, and it’s why they’re still in contention for a top six place at all.

It all depends on what kind of manager they could get to take over, but a change in coach could be quite awkward at this stage of the campaign.
