Boca ended a run of four home draws with a 2-0 win over Instituto at La Bombonera. Tomás Aranda and Adam Bareiro scored on matchday 12 of the 2026 Torneo Apertura, Zona A, extending the unbeaten run to eight.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Claudio Úbeda appears to have settled on a midfield that controlled the contest.
Agustín Marchesín was steady before the break, then crucial with two fine saves. He pinged a long pass to Ayrton Costa that brought a corner, then limped off late with an adductor issue, Leandro Brey replacing him. Brey was imprecise on the ball at first.
Lautaro Di Lollo excelled, dominant in duels and alert to halt a break after a Boca corner. Marcelo Weigandt struggled against Alex Luna, while Lautaro Blanco offered thrust but was tested by Jhon Córdoba.
Ayrton Costa endured a patchy night. A miscommunication and miskick left the ball loose for Jeremías Lázaro to score, but VAR ruled offside.
Ander Herrera buzzed around, combining with Leandro Paredes and Milton Delgado. He created chances for Merentiel and Bareiro that hit the post, then departed around the half-hour of the second half.
Paredes dictated with incisive passing, including an outside-of-the-boot ball for Merentiel. Delgado complemented him with bite and distribution, forcing Roffo into a save from range.
Aranda grew into the game, took Merentiel's pass, feinted to beat his marker and finished for 1-0, his first Boca goal. Merentiel missed chances and later burst down the left in the move that ended with Bareiro striking the second.
Alan Velasco returned after 10 games out but had little impact. Iker Zufiaurre and Camilo Rey Domenech came on in the final five minutes, the latter making his eighth Boca appearance.
