Boca Juniors are racing to land Argentinos Juniors playmaker Alan Lescano before the window shuts, with sporting director Marcelo Delgado driving the final steps.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca have until Tuesday 10 March at 18:00 to register him, using the vacancy created by Lucas Blondel’s move to Huracán after the defender passed his medical.

Talks have reached an advanced stage, with a verbal agreement between Boca and Lescano over a switch to La Bombonera. Juan Román Riquelme views this as the moment to accelerate, seeing Argentinos’ number 10 as the creativity the side need for the rest of the season.

That administrative green light allows Boca to recruit outside the conventional window. The hierarchy have centred efforts on the 24-year-old, who came through Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata’s academy.

Finalising terms is complex because Argentinos and Gimnasia each hold 50 percent of the player’s rights, so Boca must reach agreement with both clubs.

Argentinos president Cristian Malaspina has been reluctant to sanction an exit, citing the cost of replacing his captain at this stage after recent eliminations. To bridge positions, Boca have brought in Andrés Guglielminpietro, a former Boca and Gimnasia midfielder, to help formalise the figures sought by Argentinos.
