Boca visit Estudiantes with enforced changes after Alan Velasco’s knee injury, with reserve winger Gonzalo Gelini stepping up.

They opened the Torneo Apertura with victory over Deportivo Riestra at La Bombonera, then returned to training for the La Plata trip. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, tests on Velasco’s knee confirmed a lay-off of several months.

Coach Claudio Úbeda has added 20-year-old winger Gonzalo Gelini from the reserve to first-team sessions and he could be called up in La Plata.

Gelini signed his first professional deal recently, running until December 2030. He enjoyed a standout 2025 in Mariano Herrón’s reserve side, who won the Torneo Clausura and the Trofeo de Campeones.

He has played 30 reserve matches with five goals, against Argentinos, Unión, a brace against Banfield and Colón, plus seven assists. In principle, the youngster would be among the substitutes at Estadio UNO Jorge Luis Hirschi.

Boca face Estudiantes on Wednesday at 22:15 in the second round of the Torneo Apertura 2026.
