Boca are looking to move on from their Copa Libertadores setback against Barcelona. Training geared towards Saturday’s Apertura 2026 round of 16 tie with Huracán brought timely boosts as Ander Herrera and Carlos Palacios rejoined the group.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, both featured in this morning’s session, lifting mood ahead of a decisive phase of the campaign.

Herrera suffered a tear in his left hamstring on 23 April during the warm-up against Defensa y Justicia, forcing him out minutes before kick-off.

Such injuries usually demand a minimum 21 days of recovery, yet only 16 will have passed by Saturday. The Spaniard is unlikely to make the league game and instead is aiming to be available in the Cup as cover for the suspended Santiago Ascacíbar.

Chilean forward Palacios took part in light small-sided work, his first competitive contact with the squad this year after his most difficult spell at the club.

He has missed all of Boca’s 2026 fixtures. His last outing came on 7 December 2025, a 0-1 defeat to Racing in the Clausura quarter-finals.

Palacios underwent surgery on 23 February for chronic synovitis in his right knee. The plan is to ease him back, with an immediate goal of stepping up physical work in the coming days to test the joint under real competition demands.
