Inter Milan have been handed some welcome news on the injury front as Matteo Darmian edges closer to a return in time for the Supercoppa Italiana.
Inter faced the double setback of losing both Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi during the Champions League defeat to Liverpool.
However, Cristian Chivu is finally seeing signs of recovery within his squad.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that while the situation remains complicated for one wing-back, “for another the skies are finally clearing.”
Indeed, drawing a clear contrast between Denzel Dumfries and Darmian.

The outlook for Dumfries remains uncertain.
The newspaper noted that “surgery on the ankle tendons is not excluded” for the Dutch international.
Darmian, by contrast, is described as “close to returning,” offering a timely boost for the Nerazzurri.
The former Manchester United defender will not be available for the Serie A trip to Genoa.
However, Inter’s medical staff have decided he will rejoin full training immediately afterwards.
The veteran is therefore expected to travel with the squad to Riyadh.
Therefore, he could be included in the matchday squad for the Supercoppa clash with Bologna.
After more than two months on the sidelines, Darmian’s return provides Chivu with much-needed experience.
