Nick Woltemade has had a stop-start to life at Newcastle United since his €80 million move from VfB Stuttgart last summer.
He started the season brightly, but has struggled in front of goal in recent months, scoring just one goal across all competitions in 2026.
Woltemade is now reportedly attracting the interest of Borussia Dortmund.
When asked about the report by Sport Bild, Dortmund’s Managing Director of Sports Lars Ricken dismissed it.
He said: “This is the first time I’ve heard about it. Here, too, the following applies: We have this profile in two versions”
Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva are Dortmund’s central forward options, but uncertainty surrounds Guirassy’s future.
The Guinea international’s departure would force Dortmund to explore the market for a new striker.
Woltemade could be an ideal fit for the club, given his Bundesliga experience and success.
The Germany international was one of the standout strikers in the competition last term, contributing 12 goals and two assists in 28 appearances.
Newcastle will reportedly aim to sign a striker in the summer, and that would lead to a diminished role for Woltemade next season.
The 24-year-old is said to be keen on staying at Newcastle, but that stance could change with the arrival of a new striker.
This could pave the way for Dortmund to make a move for Woltemade.
Newcastle are expected to demand a substantial fee if they decide to sell the lanky forward, which may affect Dortmund’s interest. A loan-plus-obligation deal could be ideal for all parties.
