Borussia Dortmund have played down mounting talk over Serhou Guirassy, with managing director Lars Ricken rejecting suggestions of an imminent exit and denying any bid from Fenerbahce.
Ricken told WAZ there has been no offer for the striker and that Dortmund have no intention of letting him go, adding that Guirassy has underlined his value over the past two seasons.
Even so, local reports suggest BVB would only entertain talks if a proposal topped €40 million, and the release clause in the 30-year-old’s contract is said not to apply to Fenerbahce, keeping Dortmund in a strong position.
Electioneering at the Istanbul club has driven much of the noise, with presidential candidate Aziz Yildirim saying he would aim to sign Guirassy if victorious. Rival Hakan Safi has also made public claims to supporters, as reported by Fanatik.
Sporting director Ole Book has stressed the club do not plan to sell and that Guirassy is very important, though he noted that extraordinary offers would have to be considered.
