Borussia Dortmund announced the dismissal of technical director Sven Mislintat on Thursday but as reported by Sky Germany, they are yet to reach an agreement regarding severance pay. The 52-year-old squad planner had a contract at Signal Iduna Park until 2028 and on a reported salary around €1m per year, Mislintat could be entitled to around €3m.
As further reported, Mislintat’s role of technical director will not be immediately filled. It was a role made for Edin Terzic between 2021 and 2022 before he was appointed as head coach, before Mislintat’s appointment in the position in May 2024.
Mislintat was responsible for the transfers of Waldemar Anton, Pascal Groß and Serhou Guirassy in the summer, and Daniel Svensson and Diant Ramaj in the winter. However, he reportedly clashed with sporting director Sebastian Kehl and didn’t have the best relationship with former head coach Nuri Sahin.
The pair would regularly disagree on transfers and what direction the club should be heading in.
