Botafogo host Flamengo in the Brasileirão on Saturday, 14 March 2026 at the Nilton Santos, with the hosts in the relegation zone and the visitors sixth and eyeing the Libertadores spots.
Flamengo won 2-1 in February's Carioca quarter finals, and they arrive with that recent head to head edge over Botafogo.
Fogão's momentum is mixed across competitions, including a 3-1 win over Bangu and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Barcelona SC in midweek. Fla have taken three wins in their last four in all competitions, beating Cruzeiro 2-0, routing Madureira 8-0 and advancing on penalties after a 0-0 against Fluminense.
Selection could be shaped by absences. Botafogo are without Fernando Marçal, Kaio Fernando Da Silva Pantaleao and Chris Ramos. Mengão list Saúl Níguez and Bruno Henrique sidelined.
At home in the league, Fogão scored four and kept a clean sheet in their only outing, so they may lean on that home punch. Mengão have six scored and four conceded from four league games, with one away win and one away defeat, and could back their recent form to create the clearer chances.
A victory would lift the Glorioso to six points and could move them out of the relegation places. For Mengão, three points would take them to 10 and could nudge them towards the Libertadores spots, while anything less risks leaving them in the Copa Sudamericana pack.
