Bournemouth made it 10 games unbeaten after coming from behind twice to draw against 10-man Manchester United.
After a fairly end-to-end first half, United found their breakthrough after Matheus Cunha was brought down inside the box for and Bruno Fernandes scored from the spot.
Ryan Christie responded 6 minutes later, with Junior Kroupi cancelling out James Hill’s own goal that put the visitors back in fromt.
The first chance of the game fell to Amad Diallo who cut back onto his right foot before letting fly from inside the box.
The shot was well saved by the Bournemouth goalkeeper, Petrovic, who parried it out. It fell to the feet of Casemiro who saw the ball snatched away from him before he could turn the ball in.
Bournemouth then immediately hit Manchester United on the break with pace.
Marcus Tavernier led the charge before playing the ball out wide to Rayan. However, his searching cross could not find Evanilson
Matheus Cunha had a half chance on the 11th minute after a neat one-two with Bruno Fernandes, and his near post effort was turned round the post for a Man Utd corner.
Both sides will have been fairly happy with their start to the game. Neither side giving too much away and there were no clear-cut chances for either side within the first 15 minutes.
Both sides looked to establish themselves in the game and play with freedom and confidence.
Manchester United looked to hit Bournemouth on the break following a corner.
Some tidy football from the Red Devils between Amad, Dalot and Fernandes led to a half chance for the latter which was blocked fairly routinely by the Bournemouth defence.
In what was proving to be an end-to-end affair much like their first meeting, Bournemouth had a flurry of chances beginning with Rayan’s snapshot being saved at the near post by Senne Lammens.
Shortly after, there was a penalty shout for Bournemouth who felt Evanilson was pushed by Harry Maguire following a Tavernier cross.
Ultimately no penalty was given, and Rayan then had a second chance at the near post as a cross came in from the opposite wing.
A few minutes later, Cunha found himself some space to get a cross in from the left-hand side.
This fell to Amad whose shot was brilliantly blocked by Adrian Truffert who looked to stop a certain goal on 25 minutes.
Casemiro was the first to enter the referee’s book. He received a yellow card on 28 minutes after pulling back Tavernier who looked to break away.
Just after the half hour mark, Amad wasted a good opportunity for Man Utd who were beginning to get on top.
He nicked the ball from Truffert before playing it to Fernandes and eventually it found Amad again.
His heavy touch upon receiving the ball caused the attack to be nullified after the Bournemouth defence regrouped.
Not long after Man Utd would find they had another good chance. Dalot played a clever dinked cross to the back post which was met on the volley by Fernandes.
His effort was saved by the left leg of Petrovic on the line, whilst the Utd man believed he had scored.
Bournemouth were being put under great pressure by Man Utd but did continue to have some half chances.
Truffert saw his swerving effort break through a crowd of Man Utd players before Lammens made a good, but routine, stop.
Bournemouth had a further chance when Tavernier stood over a free kick.
He looked to emulate his effort from the reverse fixture, but it was watched well by Lammens who made the save look simple.
There was one minute of added time before the referee brought a close to a goalless first half.
Man Utd would have been pleased with their performance having the better of the chances. Bournemouth defended resiliently and hit Man Utd on the counter whilst having a few half-chances.
Both sides started the second half like they ended the first. Man Utd created an opportunity through Cunha once again.
He threaded a ball to Mbeumo whose shot from a difficult angle was saved.
Bournemouth then instantly responded on the counter once more.
The ball eventually fell to Ryan Christie, and his shot was fired way over the bar.
No real chances followed for the next 10 minutes. The game looked open for the taking, but both teams seemed to be cancelling each other out. The game was looking for a moment of quality.
Bournemouth thought they had found their opener after Rayan slipped the ball through to Tavernier.
Lammens got down well to make a close quarters save, but it did not matter as Tavernier was offside anyway.
A minute later Man Utd got their breakthrough. Matheus Cunha skipped round Alex Jimenez who then dragged the winger to the floor.
A penalty was awarded and Jimenez booked; if anyone was going to create the breakthrough for Man Utd it was to be Cunha as he had looked threatening all evening.
The Man Utd captain, Bruno Fernandes, slotted the resulting penalty to the keepers bottom right, and sending him the wrong way in the process. Man Utd took the lead after 61 minutes.
The Reds looked to double their lead 5 minutes later as Amad cut in from the right. He looked to be brought down inside the box by Truffert after a push, but the referee waved play on.
Bournemouth then took the ball up the other end with pace and Truffert knocked the ball into Christie.
He found a half yard of space before slotting into the bottom corner superbly, and Bournemouth found themselves level just minutes after conceding.
VAR did check the penalty shout, but agreed with the on-field decision and the goal stood.
Man Utd looked to respond instantly and did just that. In the 71st minute and just four minutes after Bournemouth’s equaliser, Fernandes’ corner deflected off Senesi and bounced off an unsuspecting James Hill who turned it into his own net.
However, Bournemouth were not going down without a fight and pushed for another equaliser. Alex Scott saw his effort leave the post reverberating, whilst Lammens counted his lucky stars that the ball did not ricochet off him and in.
Bournemouth continued to push for an equaliser. Evanilson was slipped through and looked to have the goal at his mercy before he was brought down by Maguire.
The referee awarded the penalty, and Maguire saw red for his clumsy defending.
Junior Kroupi took the penalty and much like Bruno Fernandes’ earlier penalty slotted it to the keepers right sending Lammens the wrong way.
Bournemouth found themselves level once again after 81 minutes.
Michael Carrick made the decision to substitute both Cunha and Casemiro for Ayden Heaven and Manuel Ugarte following this. Carrick clearly happy to settle for a point.
There was further good news for Bournemouth fans as they saw the return of Ben Gannon-Doak who made his first appearance since playing Manchester City in November.
The fourth official added 9 minutes on, and Bournemouth continued to hound the Manchester United defence in search of a winner.
However, Man Utd held firm for a point despite sustained Bournemouth pressure.
Bournemouth move to 10 games unbeaten and draw for a fifth game running.
Manchester United will be disappointed after leading the game twice but will be pleased they held out for a point away from home.
